Is there such thing as a perfect pedal stroke. In this video I dip a little into what some of the characteristics for an optimal pedal stroke might look like.
There are a lot of different ways to debate this topic. Some cyclists prefer to look at the pedal stroke from the standpoint of how “round” the pedal stroke is. Is the cyclist putting power to the pedals in the most efficient way? The debate will often venture into whether the rider should pull up on the backstroke or not.
In this video I take a slightly different tack and go into the small mechanical nuances we ought to see in a solid pedal stroke. Specifically what the position of the foot and ankle ought to be in at various positions. I get asked by other bike fitters regarding foot and ankle position all the time, so this is something that even those performing bike fits struggle with.
