Hands Numb Cycling? Make your cheap bars feel more expensive

Are your hands numb cycling?  Want to make them feel  like much more expensive bars?  Sometimes very expensive handlebars can help, but here's a way to make your cheap bars feel plush without spending a lothttps://youtu.be/S0Xl92KTyyMTop of the line carbon handlebars can cost between $250 and $400 (or more) and while they can help with hand and upper body comfort on the bike, they are no guarantee.  There are a number of bike fit solutions that I've gone over in the past, mostly dealing with making yourself more balanced on the bike, and these are the best place to find a solution, but if you really want to optimize your handlebar ergonomics without dropping serious coin then this might work for you.In this video I explain a really simple method using nothing more than old bar tape, scissors and electrical tape on how to improve the shape and contour of your cheap aluminum bars.  It'll cost you almost nothing except about 20 minutes of your time. There is another method I've used in the past that takes a little more time, and costs about $15-$20, but the result can be even better if you're really trying to drastically shape your bars.  It involves using a product called Sugru that is like a moldable clay that hardens and sticks to just about anything.  You simply build up layers of the Sugru around the bar making sure to create your desired flat section on your bars.  I've even used it to have clients leave their palm and fingerprints in it so we can truly customize the shape of the bar with their preferred hand positions. Here's a couple pictures of a bar I did this to years ago for a client:hands numb cycling hands numb cycling
